We’re very excited to announce that the Women In Film Los Angeles Board of Directors has elected five new members, all impressive industry leaders from diverse areas of the screen industries. With these women joining the team, we now have a 30-woman-strong Board with each Member representing the passion, dedication, and hard work that is a hallmark of Women In Film members at every level.
Join us in welcoming Tracy McGrath, a Senior Physical Production Executive for Amazon Studios Original Movies; Vanessa Morrison, President of Fox Family; Andrea Nelson Meigs, a Senior Talent and Literary Agent at ICM Partners; Syrinthia Studer, the Executive Vice President of Worldwide Acquisitions for Paramount Pictures; and Talitha Watkins, a Motion Picture Talent Agent at CAA.
At Women In Film, we work every day to marry our history with the innovation of an industry that is rapidly changing. As more attention is being paid to the issue of gender parity in the screen industries, we are mindful of the fact that systemic bias is intersectional. With this well-connected team of Board Members amplifying our work and message, the impact our programs have is strengthened, and more opportunities are afforded to women throughout Hollywood.
Our Executive Director Kirsten Schaffer is excited for the valuable guidance that these new Board Members will bring to our programming and advocacy work. “They share our commitment to the mission of enacting change,” she says, “to make the entertainment industry equitable for all women, in front of and behind the camera.”
This is what makes the newest additions to the Board such a great fit for WIF in 2019. Not only do they represent a diversity of disciplines in the world of entertainment, but they have, throughout their careers, championed underrepresented talent and audiences. With experience in marketing and acquisitions, talent representation and physical production, finance and four-quadrant features, they’re a beacon for our membership, which is composed of all kinds of women at various stages of their multidisciplinary careers.
With initiatives like ReFrame, the Think Tank for Inclusion & Equity, the Mentoring and Production programs and writing labs, our flagship events, and more, we seek to nurture and elevate women from all backgrounds who work in entertainment. On how these new Board Members will lend invaluable contributions to this mission, Board President Amy Baer says, “Each has established herself as an influential figure in our industry, leading to an improved and expanded definition of how women are represented on-screen, off-screen, and in positions of corporate leadership.”
